Failure

Just look at that face! He has got that "I am getting into something" look going on. He will be 1 year old in two weeks. Time is flying by.
He is not walking yet, but he is a speed crawler and loves getting into everything.

The family went up to DC this weekend to see the in laws and there was a lot of snow. So instead of building the traditional snowman, they decide that we should build an igloo. Sure I build things all the time, but I can honestly say that I have never built an igloo. We started with a clean area, with packed snow and then we packed snow in small shoe box shaped storage containers. This was our mold for the snow blocks. It took us about 5 hours to finish it and it turned out pretty good if I do say so.
We attempted to taper it in like a real igloo and make a dome structure, but that was not happening fast enough and I feared it may fall in on a occupant, so we put a 1x4 structure up for the roof and covered it with blocks. Now it is more like a snow fortress than an igloo, but still cool. Logan was very pleased, but Hannah had to start making snow couches and chairs. Just like a girl to start decorating the place!

So during the 5 hour building experience I did a lot of bending over and I think I tweaked a hammy. Determined to keep the streak alive, I then ran for 45 minutes in the 30deg weather. The next day I was feeling it pretty good and questioning my stubbornness to continue. But I ran another 30 minutes on the treadmill to make the streak 21 days. However, yesterday I threw in the towel. Between packing the car, driving back from DC, and a sore hammy, I opted out of any cardio yesterday and broke the streak. I think I am going to take about 2 days off and recover before hitting the gym again. It sucks to fail, but it would suck even worse to injure myself over a personal challenge.
