Ups and Downs
The U8 girls Honeybees finished their season undefeated! A perfect 8-0 until we got to the end of the season tournament. I have a personal commitment that I coach by. I think at the age of 7 kids should get equal playing time and an opportunity to play at each position. If nothing else this gives me a chance to see who is best at what and them a chance to see what they want to play. Of course everyone wants to score goals, so getting volunteers for defense and goalie is hard to come by. So in the tournament final I stuck to my morals while the other team played to win, and they did, by a score of 3-2. I probably could have played my best players the majority of the game and won, but does that mean that I should have? It has been 4 days since the game and I do not have that answer. It was tough to see the girls, who have not seen defeat in over 16 games, cry because they lost. And they lost playing their hearts out. Maybe loosing will make their hunger stronger, or teach them more about winning. I don’t know, but I can not wait to help shape this team into a bunch of winners next season.
Enjoy the Experience.
