Saturday started with a lot on the list of things to do.
Go get soccer uniforms
Go pick up the bike
Go get Logan a new BMX Helmet
Watch the Clemson Game
Go to BMX track
Watch the USC Game
Go watch the BMX races in Columbia
Everything was going good until I got to the shop and realized that my bike was on the stand with no fork in it. Turns out the fork will not even be here for a few more days. They quickly throw a spare fork on so that I have something to ride this weekend. We, Logan and I, start looking at helmets while the bike is being worked on. Unfortunately, they don’t have any that will fit his melon. I grab up the bike and head to the next location. Logan then reminds me that I signed a contract last night. He actually handed me a piece of paper Friday night and asked me to write the following: If I do not buy Logan a BMX helmet tomorrow, I will dye my hair pink. JSP”. So following through with my word we kept looking for helmets. He picked a white Bell from one of the other LBSs. On to #3. I made home to watch the 2nd half of the game. Once it was over my shirt was being tugged to go out to the NE BMX track. We went out there and Claude was on his way out of the gate. To my surprise he gladly turned around and let us use some of the loaner bikes. I put some clipless pedals on Logan’s and let him go. Hannah also came and has decided that she wants to participate. She may be a little over booked, but we will see what we can do. She rode the track great and definitely has more since than he. (Of course I mean that in the most loving way to both of them. He is all go and she understands self preservation). I got a chance to ride Claude’s cruiser and I tried some of the Manuals (that is when you fly over a jump and ride a wheelie until you come down the back side). It sure is fun and requires a lot more precision that mountain biking. I just can not stand the repetitiveness of BMX. But as long as the boy is interested, we will participate.
After about an hour of riding we all had enough of the heat and we went home to watch the other game. To my delight USC lost.
Later that night there was a local race out at the Lexington BMX. A buddy of mine put this track together and did a fantastic job. Logan and Hannah got a chance to see what racing is all about and he still wants to play.
Now that I have put in so much family time I have earned some me time. At least that is how it works in my head. Jonathan is finally back on the bike and he agreed to put together an epic in DuPont. So Toby P. and I headed to the hills of NC for some sweet single track. The day could not have been nicer. Temps in the low 80s and a constant breeze. The trail was tacky, but not wet. And the company was a cast of characters that Seinfeld would be proud of. We rode around 40 miles with a ride time around 4.5 hours and lots of breaks along the way. Not exactly epic, but our standards are low. We hit some really nice single track of which most of the trail names escape me. I do remember one downhill called Ridgeline that still makes me smile. Toby had a small miscalculation that resulted in forward somersault down the switchback. Afterwards we shared some beverages and Mexican food.
Thanks to all for the good time!
Enjoy the Experience.

Fun a sore shoulder, but damn I still have a smile going for the decent on Ridgeline.
Looks like I'm in only the Double Dare
